Twice we had to cancel the StartschussMasters due to the COVID19 pandemic – now we’re ready to host again. 😉
We’re happy to invite the queer football community to our tournament on 5th November 2022. The conditions haven’t changed much: we’ll have a warmup party at the Wunderbar, best pitches in the Sportpark Öjendorf and an award ceremony at the town hall. And we’ll have you, the best teams form half of Europe.
There’s one change we had to do: the rent for the pitches in the soccer hall has increased a lot, so we had to raise the participation fee to 120 Euro.
we are sorry to announce that there won’t be a tournament in Hamburg this year either. Having in mind the current corona development, It’s still too uncertain to hold an indoor event with more than 100 players in a way that we could enjoy it together.
We really hope to be back in 2022 and that everything will be so nice as it has been before. (In the meantime, get your vaccination if you haven’t got one already)
You know that the StartschussMasters is a kind of family meeting of Europe’s gay football community. In 15 years of history of our tournament you made new friendships: We’re all happy to see again, we’ve got a great competition and afterwards we hug each other und celebrate the diversity of this fantastic sports.
The StartschussMasters on the first saturday in November is liked a fixed date in the gay football calendar. As organizers, we really thought about how we can deliver that certain StartschussMasters feeling despite the corona pandemic.
Sadly it doesn’t work.
The current corona restrictions in Hamburg only allow four-a-side matches (4+1). So we wouldn’t even have substitus. Even if they eased that restrictions: We couldn’t watch the games altogether, because with 120 players in the hall it’s impossible to keep spacial distancing. And the problems even start before: How can we possibly all make it through the small locker cabin in acceptable time? We thought about a plan B, but we had no idea. We don’t feel comfortable to simply start the preperations for the tournament in the hope auf easing restrictions while the corona cases in Germany are rising and we can’t promise any of our guests to have a safe travel to us.
We are responsible enough to say that we cannot take this responsibilty. We cannot be a safe space for the gay football communityy without giving up the safety measures for corona. Therefore we cancelled the StartschussMasters in this year. We would be happy to see you again on 6th November 2021 in Hamburg. Save the date and stay strong.
PAN Fodbold from Copenhagen has won our tournament in 2019. In the final the danishmen beat Quadratekicker Mannheim 5-4 on penalties. You can watch the last seconds of the dramatic match hier:
Patron Farid Müller invited the participants to the awards ceremonty at the Hamburg town hall. Professional football player Jan-Philipp Kalla (from FC St. Pauli playing in 2nd Bundesliga) passed over the trophies. He called to take a stand against homophobia and sexism. His speech in german language is here:
Once again we’re happy to host the StartschussMasters on 2nd November 2019. It’s already the 14th edition of our tournament! Same procedure as every year: We play on astroturf in the soccerhall of the Sportpark Öjendorf (4+1) and are looking forward to the award ceremony in the Emperor’s Hall of the Hamburg Townhall, in which we will have a reception by our patron Farid Müller.
The StartschussMasters 2018 will be once again an international event: With registrations from Germany, England, Sweden and Slovenia, all 16 slots have been reserved.
Among the participants are regular guests like SC Aufruhr from Bochum in Germany, newcomers like Howie’s Angels (England) or sLOVEnia Shooters (Slovenia) and we have a comeback of Leinebagger Hannover (Germany). We’re also happy to see our “straight allies” from DJK Hamburg once again.
There are further teams on the waiting list. Therefore we would kindly ask all the registered teams to send us the tournament fee, if not already done.
We’re looking forward to a great tournament on 3rd November!
The winners of the StartschussMasters 2017 will get the cup out of the hands of Ewald Lienen! We’re happy to announce that the technical director of the FC St. Pauli will be guest of the ceremony on 4th November in the town hall. Lienen has been fielded 333 times in the german Bundesliga and continued his career for more than 20 years as team manager (for example 1. FC Köln, Hannover 96, Panonios Athen and finally FC St. Pauli).
16 teams from Germany and some other European countries will have the possibility to take part in the StartschussMasters. Already registerd are last year’s finalists Pan Fodbold (Copenhagen) and RosaTeufel (Kaiserslautern), as well es Gmadrid (Spain), Nordic Temptation (Sweden), DJK Hamburg and Vorspiel Berlin. Further teams can register here.
